Wildlife week observed in Fakim village Kiphire

Wildlife week was celebrated at Fakim village Kiphire from September 1 to October 1, with conservator of forests (publicity and planning) Temjenyabang Jamir IFS as chief guest along with 120 participants from eco club, youths, women, churches and councils. The wildlife week was flagged off by Temjenyabang and Y. Nuklu.
A press release by wildlife warden Kiphire, Kamdi Hemant Bhaskar IFS stated that the emphasis was on cultivating ecological hobbies among the youths of the village through eco clubs, whereby the Kiphire wildlife division had taken up two new youth eco clubs, namely Vontsuvong and Thanamir under the lead of Fakim.
The release stated that chief guest Temjenyabang in his speech said that Kiphire district is known by the landmark Fakim-Saramati and hence should reflect the model of conservation to the rest of the state. He said that work of eco club was nothing but capacity building for ecotourism and biodiversity research for which the region had huge scope.  Executive secretary Phom Baptist Christian Association Longleng, Y. Nuklu Phom graced the occasion as main speaker. Alluding to the concept of new earth and heaven from the Bible he said, God would surely select Fakim-Saramati for its naturally beautiful, cleaner and well preserved state.
The programme began with an invocation by pastor Fakim Baptist Church Ningtsuki, welcome address delivered by GB Fakim, Tsangmule and background of programme presented by wildlife warden Kiphire Kamdi Hemant Bhaskar. EAC Khongsa Chonpenthung Ezung encouraged the community to bring back the “lost glory of Nagaland-hornbills” as a success of conservation efforts.  Programme concluded with vote of thanks by range forest officer, wildlife division, Kiphire, Kiusang.
