WLU condemns assault on WCYO president

DIMAPUR: Western Lasumi Union (WLU) has strongly condemned the physical assault, vandalism of vehicle and mental abuse meted out to its bona fide member, Wekupe Therie, president of Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation and advisor to Western Naga Youth Front, on May 2 at Naga United Village.
In a press release, WLU president, Lhiwekulo Marhu and secretary, Meyielo Kromi described Therie as a peace‑loving citizen working for the betterment of society and termed the incident a “dastardly act.” It stated that individuals who take the law into their own hands under the guise of community pose a severe threat to public safety and must face strict legal consequences.
The union expressed appreciation to all organisations and individuals who extended support to its member and appealed for continued solidarity until justice is delivered. It also lauded the authorities for the prompt apprehension of the prime accused and expressed confidence that the remaining accomplices would be arrested soon.
