Naga woman found dead in hotel room

A Naga lady, around 26 years old, was found dead at her hotel room in Burma Camp here late Friday night. According to police sources, the lady, whose name has been withheld for privacy reason, reportedly checked into the hotel on August 8.


When hotel staff noticed no movement of her for over a day, it was learnt that the manager, concerned about her safety, informed the police, after which personnel from Women Police Station arrived at the scene.


The police sources informed this reporter that the lady was already dead when police personnel entered the room. Her body was initially taken to District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) for postmortem.


However, at the family’s request, the body was handed over to them. The police sources further indicated that due to the unnatural circumstances of the death, a suo moto case would be registered for investigation.


Meanwhile, the hotel manager confirmed that the lady had been staying at the hotel since her check-in on August 8. He said that there had been no visitor to her room in recent days, and the last recorded movement of the lady that was captured on CCTV was around 11 am on August 27.
