Youth Association of Nagaland (YAN) has vehemently condemned the “unlawful action” perpetrated by 17 AR on “innocent civilians” including VDB secretary and a student leader of Chukitong, on December 27 under Wokha district.
YAN in a press release by president Hetoi Chishi and spokesperson Alise Sangtam stated that a “well educated” officer and his jawans who are trained to be “highly disciplined” found in such “immoral activities” and subsequent upon perpetuating to verbally abusing young women, assault, threatening and intimidating peace loving citizens without any valid reason was shameful and uncalled for.
YAN stated that threatening and randomly declaring to destroy Chukitong people in three days with arms by particular 17-AR post Commander merely on asking him to cooperate with the citizens in maintaining peaceful atmosphere as serious case and thus merits deep interrogation from the higher authority.
YAN stated that a post commander who was supposed to take care of any law and order situation in the area was found himself distorting peace and harmony. It said the action was tantamount to his immediate suspension, which may be made known to the concern administration and the people of the area. YAN further asked the CPRO and the administration to take illustrative actions upon three civilians for coordinating with army officers through immoral activities.
