A joint coordination meeting to deliberate on the upcoming 25th Hornbill Festival was organised by the department of Tourism at the conference hall of the department here on Wednesday. It was attended by two representatives from each of the tribe hohos.

Close on the heels of the vehement opposition expressed by the NSCN (I-M) against implementation of the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN), the Global Naga Forum (GNF) has also raised its own concerns, cautioning that RIIN could lead to deep divisions within the Naga community.

Reacting to the formation of District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) for IIC/PRC under RIIN with the four Indigenous Minority tribes, the Association of Indigenous Minority Tribes of Nagaland (AIMTN) representing Kuki, Kachari, Garo and Mikir (Karbi) has decided not to participate in any of the DLCC for IIC/PRC until the state government provided an acceptable reply to the representation submitted to the chief secretary on September 24, 2024 on the matter.

GPRN/NSCN (Unification) on Wednesday alleged that N. Kitovi Zhimomi, after his expulsion on April 21, 2024, floated a new party with just a handful of habitual defectors and has since been making fabricated and concocted statements “with an intent to tarnish the reputation of the people’s government.”

Former working president and treasurer of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee Bobby Panicker, and former Deputy Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), T Yangseo Sangtam, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in New Delhi.
