Pfuchatsumia Youth Organisation (PYO) Kohima village has expressed deep concern and disappointment over the “continued neglect” of National Highway-150, particularly the Pezielietsie-Keyake stretch, which falls under the jurisdiction of the National Highway Division No. 1, Nagaland.
In a press release, PYO president Viyhodelie Rame stated that despite repeated appeals—both verbal and written—highlighting the critical condition of the vital route, no significant steps have been taken by the responsible department.
PYO said the Pezielietsie-Keyake road stretch was a lifeline for local residents, commuters, schoolchildren, and emergency services, as well as for commercial transport vehicles. “Yet, it has been left in a perilous state,” PYO added.
The youth body stated that as per office order dated April 21, 2025 the department had committed to completing road repair within 15 days. However, even after almost three months, PYO said not a single substantial measure had been undertaken to fulfil that commitment.
It said road condition has now deteriorated to dangerous levels. “Commuting through this route has become a daily risk, with immense hardship being endured by all sections of society,” PTO said.
The youth body asserted that prolonged inaction, despite repeated follow-ups and official commitments, was “unacceptable” and reflected a disturbing apathy towards public welfare and infrastructure maintenance.
PYO said it exercised restraint and patience for a considerable time. However, it cautioned that if work on the said road was not initiated within seven days, the organisation would be left with no other option but to close the said road as a mark of public protest.
PYO warned that any inconvenience or fallout from such action would be the sole responsibility of the department and the state government for having failed to address repeated and legitimate public grievances.
