Naga AR jawan found dead

In a tragic incident, the body of a 43-year-old Assam Rifle constable Tsalichum Sangtam was found within the Assam Rifle Composite Hospital premises, Shokhuvi on Friday.
Police sources said, a case was registered with Sovima Police Station, and investigation was under way.
According to police and forensic experts, prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide. However, they said proper report could be made only after post mortem and forensic report was out. Police sources further informed that the deceased was admitted to the hospital previous month.
WSPO demands probe: Western Sangtam Peoples Organisation (WSPO) has demanded swift and thorough investigation into the alleged murder of Tsalichum Sangtam, son of late Lichose Sangtam of Old Risethsi village, who was serving under 12 Assam Rifles. In a letter to the commissioner of police Dimapur, WSPO president TS Meren Sangtam and general secretary Likyuse Sangtam appreciated the prompt action of the police at the scene of the crime.
WSPO has, therefore, appealed to the CP Dimapur to investigate the death without any outside influence. The organisation has assured to extend all possible assistance to the investigation.
