The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) for Kohima District was officially launched on May 29, with Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor for Agriculture and MLA, gracing the occasion as the special guest.
The launch event, held under the national theme “One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team,” brought together 233 participants, including officials from Agriculture and Allied Departments and local farmers
In his address, Yanthan emphasized the importance of raising awareness about modern agricultural practices, climate-resilient farming, and the use of improved seed varieties. He lauded the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare for initiating VKSA 2025, a nationwide campaign running from May 29 to June 12, aimed at transforming agriculture through education, innovation, and convergence.
The VKSA programme is being implemented in collaboration with ICAR scientists, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), FPOs, and progressive farmers to ensure grassroots-level awareness of government schemes and technological advancements.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by DAO, Kohima, Kekhrieletuo Yhome. Director of agriculture, Sanuzo Nienu delivered remarks on the programme’s significant followed by a short speech from the chairman of Kohima Village Council. The vote of thanks was delivered by joint director, Rosemary Ezung.
Wokha: The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) was officially launched on May 29, at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha. The campaign will run until June 12, 2025, aiming to empower farmers through direct outreach, modern technologies, and awareness of government schemes.
Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar, graced the event as special guest and emphasized the campaign’s goal of bridging the gap between agricultural advancements and grassroots implementation. He highlighted the need for accessible communication and urged officials to foster trust within rural communities. He informed that each team will visit three villages per day and encouraged officials to build trust within communities that may be skeptical of frequent departmental visits.
Senior scientist & head, ICAR-KVK Wokha, Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh outlined VKSA’s national mission to reach 1.5 crore farmers across 700 districts, with support from over 2,000 scientific teams. In Nagaland, 309 teams will conduct village-level outreach.
The program also featured the flag-off of the Krishi Rath, marking the start of village campaigns. Technical sessions were later held at New Wokha Village, covering topics such as mushroom cultivation, polyhouse flower production, and agricultural schemes.
Earlie, the event was chaired by chief technical officer, ICAR-KVK Wokha, Dr. B.L. Mhalo Tungoe and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Thungchano Ezung.

Mokochung: In Mokochung, the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was officially launched at the Mokokchung Village Community Hall on May 29, with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Chumlamo Humtsoe serving as the guest of honour.
In his address, ADC Humtsoe emphasized the region’s rich and fertile land, urging the community to embrace sustainable farming practices. He cautioned against the use of harmful chemicals in agriculture, advocating for organic methods to safeguard the environment and the well-being of future generations.
The keynote address was delivered by senior. scientist & Head, KVK Mokokchung, Dr. Keviletsu Khate while in the thematic session, speeches were delivered by ICAR, senior scientist, Dr. S Ruth Assumi, assistant chief technical officer, KVK Mokokchung, Imtilemla and a hosts of representatives from the Agri & Allied Departments. Vote of thanks was proposed by the Mokokchung Village Council Chairman.
Tuensang, Noklak and Shamator: The 15-day National Level Pre-Kharif Campaign under the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) and Bharat Krishi Jagran Yatra: Anusandhan Kisan Ke Dwar was officially launched on May 29, by Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa at the premises of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tuensang.
The campaign aims to reach farming communities across 102 villages in the districts of Tuensang, Noklak and Shamator. Organized by KVK Tuensang in collaboration with the District Administration, NRC-Mithun, the School of Agricultural Sciences (Central Agricultural University, Jalukie), and various departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Soil Conservation, DRDA, DPRO, and ATMAs, the campaign seeks to strengthen agricultural outreach and innovation.
In her inaugural address, Rutsa emphasized the importance of ensuring the timely availability of quality seeds to farmers. She urged all Agriculture and allied departments to facilitate market linkages and explore opportunities for value addition to farm produce.
Dr. Pijush Kanti Biswas, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Tuensang, highlighted the objectives and significance of the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan. Additional remarks were delivered by Sopungmar, DAO Tuensang; Kejingkhum, Village Council Chairman of Kuthur Village; and Dr. Kezavituo Vupru, CTO, NRC-Mithun.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by ACTO (Agri.Ext), Longma yanger and vote of thanks by ACTO (plant protection), Kerukuolie Michael Pienyu.
Zunheboto: The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was officially launched at the auditorium of Nagaland University, Lumami, marking a significant step toward empowering farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture in the region
The programme began with a welcome address by Yangermongla, followed by principal scientist & head, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, who outlined the objectives of VKSA. Representing the farming community, Hukheto Jimo of Lumami village spoke on the programme’s relevance to local agricultural needs.
Professor J.K. Patnaik, chief guest and vice chancellor of Nagaland University, highlighted agriculture’s vital role in India’s transformation from a food-deficient nation to a global exporter. He credited institutions like ICAR, KVKs, CAUs, and Agriculture and Allied Departments for driving this change through localized and modern agricultural technologies. He encouraged the promotion of Nagaland’s unique agri-products beyond state and national borders.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Akuluto, Atsung Walling, urged farmers and village councils to adopt new technologies and support VKSA’s implementation through active collaboration with KVKs and relevant departments. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from ACTO, KVK, Imnameren.
Mon: The 12-day Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) campaign was launched by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mon with SDO (Civil), Aboi, Renbithung Jami, gracing the occasion as guest of honour.
In his speech, Jami encouraged the farmers and participants to take advantage of the programmes as it can help the state to achieve food sustainability and generate income.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by E. Renbomo Ngullie. In the keynote address, Dr. V. Akashe Zhimomi, District Nodal Officer (VKSA) and Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Mon, highlighted the objectives of the national campaign. He emphasized the importance of awareness on modern agricultural technologies and government schemes aimed at strengthening the farming community.
Dr. W. Abon Yanthan, Scientist, spoke on the broader goals of improving India’s agricultural systems and how VKSA can support this mission. Assistant professor, CAU Jalukie, Dr. Raghubir discussed the scope and importance of scientific livestock management for sustainable rural livelihoods. Vote of thanks was delivered by ACTO (GPB), KVK Mon.Bendangjungla I.
TSEMINYU: The ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ Campaign was launched at Council Hall, Tesophenyu Village, Tseminyu on 29th May 2025, with ADC Tseminyu, Kikumsangla Jamir as the special guest.
The programme featured interactive sessions with farmers focusing on key areas including soil testing and the Soil Health Card initiative, animal feed and health management, off-season vegetable cultivation, and soil and water conservation techniques.

PHEK: The VKSA, a national initiative of ICAR-KVK Porba, Phek, was officially launched on May 29, with Dr. Neisatuo Mero, MLA, gracing the event as chief guest.
In his address, Dr. Mero emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture and the effective transfer of technology to farmers.
He lauded the inclusive approach of VKSA in bringing together scientists, extension workers, and farmers to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, attending as guest of honour, commended KVK Phek for its science-led initiatives and stressed the need for grassroots engagement in agricultural development.
Farmer representative Niekhozolu expressed strong community support for the campaign, highlighting local expectations from the VKSA initiative.
Head & senior scientist, ICAR-KVK Phek, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, announced that the VKSA campaign will continue until June 12, 2025, covering all 106 villages under Phek and Meluri districts. The programme included an interactive session among farmers, scientists, and officials.
PEREN: The VKSA was officially launched at the Community Hall in Mhainamtsi Village, Peren District. The event was organized jointly by the Deputy Commissioner of Peren, ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren, Central Agricultural University (CAU) Jalukie, and the State Agriculture & Allied Departments. Over 175 farmers from Mhainamtsi, Nkwareu, and New-Jalukie villages attended the launch.
Addressing the gathering as the special guest, Dean of the College of Veterinary Sciences, CAU Jalukie, Dr. I. Shakuntala emphasized that the VKSA aims to educate farmers on modern technologies for kharif crops, establish direct communication between policymakers, scientists, and farmers, promote sustainable farming practices, raise awareness about government schemes, and guide farmers on using Soil Health Cards for balanced fertilizer application.
ADC Jalukie, Albert, acknowledged the efforts of the organizing bodies and expressed confidence that the VKSA would transform agriculture in Peren District. He encouraged farmers to utilize the natural resources judiciously and engage actively in farming activities.
The program was chaired by District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Peren, Dr. Zieleigai Ndang, with a keynote address by Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of KVK Peren Z. James Kikon. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Namsui Thou, Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) of Peren.
