In view of the roadblock at KM 14.00 at NH 202 (between Longsa Jn and Dikhu bridge) due to landslide, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa

The state government has directed National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to make NH-29 operational within 24 hours to ensure that supply of essential commodities like petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL), and food items were not adversely affected.

Panic buying gripped the state capital on Wednesday following a massive landslide at Pherima that completely cut off the main route connecting Kohima to other districts.

In one of the worst ever tragedy on the national highway, six people lost their lives after a flashflood-cum-mudslide, triggered by heavy downpour, swept several stalls and some cars parked along the National Highway 29 below the road.

State government has issued travel advisory in the wake of the mudslide/landslides at Pherima and Chumoukedima to ensure availability of essential commodities and the smooth movement of people between Kohima and Dimapur.
