AR carry out plantation drive across state

Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (N) conducted plantation drive across the state. To commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas, Assam Rifles in collaboration with Eco Club of Capital College, under the theme “Green Tomorrow: Our Land, Our Future – We are Generation Restoration”, carried out the drive at the new campus of Capital College, Jotsoma Road, near Science College.


A total of 500 saplings, including local species and fruits, were planted by students of the Eco Club and Assam Rifle personnel. During the event, students were educated about significance of Kargil Diwas, with a special mention of the supreme sacrifice made by Capt (Late) Kengruse, MVC.


Painting Competition for students of Assam Rifles Public School, Kohima was also organised on the occasion wherein the children showcased their skills depicting theme of bravery and sacrifice of war heroes in Kargil War 1999.


In Zunheboto, Assam Rifles led the plantation drive at Zunheboto Government College on July 27, where 150 students participated alongside District Forest Officer and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Zunheboto. Around 450 tree saplings were planted across the college grounds which aimed at enhancing local greenery and fostering environmental stewardship.


Assam Rifles also carried out the drive at Aboi, Mon, as part of weeklong tree plantation drive commenced by Eastern Command on July 27. Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Assam Rifles Public School, Chieswema launched environmental initiative, embarking on week-long mass plantation drive from July 1 to 27, at Chieswema Garrison, Nagaland. Around 1000 tree saplings were planted, which included indigenous species, to preserve local biodiversity.


In Jalukie, over 110 students and teachers attended the event to pay tribute to the brave hearts who laid their lives protecting the nation during Op Vijay in 1999 at the event held at Assam Rifles Public School, Jalukie. The event was followed by tree plantation drive.
