Patton inaugurates DDAC at Chukitong

Deputy chief minister, Y. Patton on Saturday inaugurated the District Drugs De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) at Chukitong Town, Wokha district.
The centre is a joint initiative of Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (GoI), Department of Social Welfare (GoN), and Wokha District Administration. It aims to provide care, counselling, and recovery services for individuals battling substance abuse.
Speaking at the programme, Patton appreciated the combined efforts of all stakeholders in establishing the centre.
He emphasised the need for a compassionate approach to address drug abuse and urged the Church to continue providing spiritual and moral support to those in recovery.
Advisor Mhathung Yanthan asked for public support to ensure the centre serves its purpose of transforming lives.
Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA, appealed to citizens to work together to safeguard the youth from drug addiction.
The event began with an invocation by Rev. Rentsamo Kithan. Rev. Amos Humtsoe, manager of DDAC Chukitong, welcomed the gathering and introduced the project. A keynote address was delivered by a representative from Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre, Dimapur.
District Welfare Officer C. James Ezung, CRPO advisor advocate Oren Humtsoe, chairman of Lotha Hoho, and chairman of Chukitong Range Pastors’ Fellowship also gave delivered speeches. Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Vineet Kumar, assured full support from the administration.
Pastor N. Ngullie of AG Church Mungya offered the vote of thanks, and the programme concluded with a prayer by pastor T. Robin Kikon of Chukitong Baptist Church.
Advisor to chief minister Dr. Chumben Murry, and SP Rhovisie Nyuwi also attended the inauguration along with Church leaders, CSOs, and district officials.
